If you sell mid-size sedans in Vietnam or Cambodia and you have never heard of the Honda INSPIRE, that is the gap.
The INSPIRE is a China-only nameplate — built by GAC Honda for the domestic market, sitting on the same 10th-generation platform as the international Accord, with the same 1.5T turbo engine and CVT. It never got exported new. Which means the only way to get one outside China is the same way we source everything: buy it used, inspected, and shipped.
What one unit actually costs
We pulled a clean 2022 INSPIRE 260TURBO (Refined trim) currently in our inventory:
- Mileage: 57,000 km
- Engine: 1.5T petrol, automatic, LHD
- Condition: Grade A, no accident history, clean title
- EXW China: $14,545
Benchmarked against 38 comparable Japan-spec Accord-class units in the same year and mileage band, the median export price runs $20,237. That is a $5,692 gap — 28.1% under benchmark — for what is mechanically the same car under a different badge.
Why the gap exists
Chinese buyers do not pay a premium for the INSPIRE the way they would for an imported Accord. It is a domestic-market car competing against a crowded field of Chinese-brand mid-size sedans, so pricing stays anchored to the local market even though the underlying platform, engine, and build quality match what Honda sells globally as the Accord.
That mismatch — global platform, domestic-only pricing — is the same arbitrage that works for Wuling EVs and BYD sedans. It just has not been priced into the sedan segment as visibly yet, because most importers are not looking at China-market-only nameplates.
Landed math for Phnom Penh or Ho Chi Minh City
Starting from $14,545 EXW:
- Add sea freight (quoted per shipment, low three to low four figures depending on route and consolidation)
- Add destination duty and clearing — Cambodia and Vietnam duty schedules differ; your clearing agent’s number, not ours
- Compare against what a 2022 Accord-class sedan with comparable mileage retails for locally
The margin survives the comparison in both markets. Cambodia’s used-import duty structure and Vietnam’s registration fees change the final number, but the starting gap is wide enough to absorb either.
How buying through UCarsea works
We are a China-based exporter, not a marketplace. You tell us the spec — trim, year, mileage ceiling, budget — and we shortlist real units from live inventory, send photos, mileage records and an independent inspection report before you commit. No deposit until you have picked a specific car.
